ANPR Camera Systems for Automatic Vehicle Recognition
Automatic Number Plate Recognition (ANPR) cameras provide contactless vehicle identification by capturing and reading licence plates automatically. The ANPR Lumo is an all-in-one solution combining camera, embedded analyser software, and infrared illuminator in a single weatherproof unit. With a read range of 2 to 10 metres, this advanced system handles both barrier-controlled applications and free-flow scenarios where vehicles travel up to 130 km/h. Deep learning algorithms ensure accurate plate recognition under challenging conditions, reading various font formats and handling difficult lighting situations.
The ANPR Lumo operates as a standalone access control solution with built-in time-based access lists, or integrates seamlessly via Wiegand, RS485, or Ethernet into existing systems. Web-based configuration software simplifies setup and management. Ideal for temporary vehicle access, visitor management, car park automation, and situations where RFID tag distribution isn't practical.
The system supports infrared-reflective number plates from countries worldwide, making it versatile for international deployments across corporate campuses, healthcare facilities, educational institutions, and secure government sites.
ANPR eliminates the need to issue and manage physical tags or credentials. The system automatically reads vehicle licence plates, making it ideal for visitor access, temporary permissions, or facilities with high vehicle turnover. Unlike RFID systems requiring windscreen tags, ANPR works with existing number plates. This reduces administrative overhead and upfront costs whilst providing flexible access management through software-based white lists. ANPR excels when tag distribution is impractical or when tracking unregistered vehicles is required.
The ANPR Lumo features IP65-rated weatherproof housing designed for outdoor installation in temperatures from -20°C to +55°C. The integrated infrared illuminator ensures reliable plate recognition during nighttime and low-light conditions. Deep learning algorithms compensate for challenging scenarios including harsh sunlight, reflections, shadows, and varying weather conditions. The robust die-cast housing withstands rain, snow, and temperature extremes. Optional stainless steel mounting posts provide additional protection and professional aesthetic integration into vehicle entry lanes.
Yes, the ANPR Lumo handles vehicles travelling up to 130 km/h in free-flow applications where barriers aren't required. For triggered scenarios with external sensors, the system captures plates at speeds up to 250 km/h. This makes ANPR suitable for both traditional barrier-controlled access points where vehicles slow down, and modern free-flow parking facilities where uninterrupted traffic movement is essential. The system's 1/1.8"" CMOS sensor captures high-resolution images enabling accurate recognition even at speed.
The ANPR Lumo includes built-in access control functionality through web-based software. Administrators configure time-based white lists specifying which licence plates can access during designated periods. When a vehicle approaches, the camera captures and analyses the plate, comparing it against stored permissions. If authorised, the system triggers relay outputs to open barriers automatically. This eliminates the need for separate access control panels in simple applications, reducing system complexity whilst maintaining comprehensive audit trails of vehicle movements.
ANPR Lumo supports multiple communication protocols including Wiegand 26-bit for seamless integration with existing proximity card systems, RS485 for longer cable runs up to 1200 metres, and Ethernet 10/100 Mbps for network-based installations. The RESTful API interface and configurable string syntax enable integration with third-party access control software and building management systems. Two relay outputs and two digital inputs provide direct barrier control, whilst Power over Ethernet simplifies installation by delivering power and data through a single cable.
