A campus gate never sees the same day twice

The school run, sixth-form drivers, parents' evenings, contractors, deliveries, weekend lettings: hundreds of vehicles, most with a good reason to be there, none of them wanting to queue.

Campus access control pulls against safeguarding. Prop the gate open and anyone can drive in among pupils and pedestrians; lock it down and staff spend the day on gate duty, buzzing in every parent and delivery van.

Scale adds a third problem. Boarding schools and universities spread across multiple entrances, staff car parks and residential sites, and every gate has to apply the same rules or safeguarding audits find the gaps. Some campuses also run caravan and asset storage on spare land, where owners expect every movement tracked.

And most campuses already run an access control platform, visitor management and safeguarding processes. Vehicle access has to plug into what's there, not replace it.
