Proximity Readers

Nortech readers support widely-used 125kHz technologies including EM4100, EM4102, Temic, Hitag, and DualProx (PAC compatible). For 13.56MHz applications, Multi-ISO models read LEGIC Advant, Mifare, iCLASS, ICODE, and Tag-it 2. Selected models access secure data from Mifare and LEGIC Prime cards. All readers output industry-standard formats (26-bit Wiegand, Clock & Data, RS232) ensuring compatibility with Nortech controllers and most third-party access control systems.

For harsh environments or high-vandalism areas, choose the VP1 with marine-grade 316 stainless steel and IP66 rating. The WP2 Flush Mount offers vandal resistance with stainless steel mounting and IP65 encapsulated electronics. For standard outdoor applications, the MP1 Mullion, WP1 Wall Switch, or SP1 Slimline (all IP65-IP66 rated, ABS/UV-stabilized construction) provide reliable performance. All outdoor readers operate from -20°C to 50°C ambient temperature.

Wall switch readers (WP1/WP2) fit standard UK back boxes measuring 90×90mm, replacing traditional wall switches for neat, architectural installations. Mullion readers (MP1) feature slender vertical profiles (111×49mm) designed for door mullions and architrave mounting where space is limited. Both offer similar technology support and read ranges, but mullion readers suit narrow frames and glass doors while wall switch styles suit building entrances and office doors.

Yes, all Nortech readers integrate with third-party systems through industry-standard interfaces. Wiegand output (26-bit, 32-bit, 34-bit, or 44-bit) ensures compatibility with virtually all control panels globally. Clock & Data and RS232 options provide additional flexibility. Connection choices include pigtail cables, terminal blocks, or fixed cables. Readers support multiple card technologies simultaneously, enabling gradual migration from legacy systems without immediate credential replacement.

Desktop readers (DT1/DT2) connect via USB to enrol cards directly into access control software, databases, or spreadsheets. They eliminate manual data entry during credential management, badge production, visitor enrollment, and system commissioning. Card data outputs as keyboard input with configurable formatting and selectable terminating characters. The DT1 includes integral readers for most technologies; the DT2 accommodates third-party readers. No driver installation required.
