This elegantly designed device incorporates an infra-red sensor to detect a hand or other obstacle that enters the detection field, which precludes the need for contact with the device.
It is designed for use in applications where it is necessary to open a door without physically touching the device. This helps to minimise contamination and spread of infection making it particularly suitable for use in hospitals, laboratories, engineering facilities, food preparation and serving areas and other clean environments. The infrared detection range is adjustable between 3 and 20 centimetres. Note that different materials have different reflective rates - the specified range is based on 18% neutral grey card. Highly reflective surfaces may trigger at greater distances, while dark or absorptive materials may require closer proximity.
The contact latch time is adjustable from 0.8 to 30 seconds, allowing you to configure appropriate release durations for different door types and user needs. Slower-closing doors or accessibility requirements may need longer latch times.
The device operates on 12 to 20VDC input voltage. Current consumption is 23mA in quiescent state and 30mA when activated at 12VDC. The relay contact is rated at 1A @ 30VDC maximum, suitable for most access control systems.
The unit provides both Normally Open (NO) and Normally Closed (NC) contacts, giving flexibility for different access control system configurations. Connections are made via a supplied 5-pin plug with colour-coded wiring: Red (+ve), Brown (0v), Green (NC), Blue (Common), and Purple (NO).
The operating temperature range is -10°C to +70°C, making it suitable for most indoor applications including loading bays and transitional areas. The stainless steel construction resists corrosion in humid environments, with the IR sensor rated for over 100,000 hours of operation.
