Panel-Mount Reader

PP1

'Fits Standard Door Entry Panels'

Specially designed to fit behind standard door entry panels. Supports a wide variety of technologies to match customers' security requirements and budgets.

PRODUCT FEATURES & BENEFITS

The PP1 series read a wide range of 125kHz type proximity cards and tokens. These may be from Nortech’s own extensive range of electronic credentials, existing third party cards and tokens, or a combination of both depending upon the application. Each reader model can support one or more card technologies together with a selection of output formats. The series include several dual technology models for simultaneously supporting two independent card technologies.

An ideal companion to Nortech’s range of access controllers, the PP1 reader series offer the perfect choice of reader for new installations, while the wide choice of supported technologies and interfaces makes it an ideal cost-effective option for extending existing third party installations and for supporting the use of existing credentials in new access control applications.

benefits

  • Reader selection is simplified by combining the flexibility of the reader series with the backup of Nortech’s access control and proximity reader know-how
  • Easy installation and an elegant design enables installers to add a professional finish to any access control project
  • Compatibility with most controllers reduces the cost of upgrades and extensions
  • Offers cost savings by enabling existing cards and tokens to be re-used on new installations
  • Combined with Nortech’s access control systems, a flexible, robust and cost-effective solution can be configured to meet most small to medium access control applications

Discreet Access Control for Intercom and Entry Panel Installations

The PP1 panel mount reader is purpose-built for integration with door entry intercoms and modular panel systems found in multi-residential buildings, office complexes, and commercial lobbies.

Its compact 55 x 55mm footprint with 48mm mounting centres fits seamlessly behind standard entry panels, delivering proximity access control without adding bulk or compromising the clean aesthetic of existing intercom installations. This makes it ideal for apartment buildings requiring combined video intercom and card access, or commercial reception areas where space behind the panel is limited.

For system integrators managing mixed-credential environments, the PP1 offers dual-technology models capable of reading multiple 125kHz card formats simultaneously—including EM-compatible cards, PAC tokens, and Paxton credentials. This flexibility simplifies technology migration projects where legacy cards must coexist with new credentials, eliminating costly full-system changeovers.

The reader's compatibility with Wiegand, Clock & Data, and RS232 output formats ensures straightforward connection to virtually any access controller on the market.

Frequently Asked Questions
What mounting dimensions does the PP1 panel reader require? Frequently Asked Questions

The PP1 features 48mm mounting hole centres designed to fit standard door entry panels. The unit measures 55 x 55 x 16mm (H x W x D), making it suitable for integration behind most intercom and modular entry systems.

What card technologies does the PP1 support? Frequently Asked Questions

The PP1-EM1 reads 125kHz EM-compatible cards including Nortech, Paxton, and similar open-standard proximity cards. The PP1-DP1 DualProx model reads both legacy PAC tokens and newer 125kHz PAC cards alongside EM variants simultaneously.

What output formats are available? Frequently Asked Questions

The PP1-EM1 offers selectable 26-bit Wiegand or 10-digit Clock & Data plus RS232 (9600 baud). The PP1-DP1 provides 26-bit or 44-bit Wiegand plus PAC-compatible serial data output.

Can the PP1 be used outdoors? Frequently Asked Questions

Yes. The PP1 is IP66-rated and operates in ambient temperatures from -20°C to 50°C, making it suitable for covered outdoor locations such as building entrances and sheltered intercom stations.

What is the read range of the PP1? Frequently Asked Questions

Read range is up to 50mm depending on the card technology and credential type used. EM-format cards typically achieve the maximum range, while smaller fobs may read at shorter distances.
