DQ-S2-PH

'Versatility to support access control and membership applications'

The DQ-S2-PH DeltaQuest Universal OEM 2-Door Access Controller is supplied in an attractive housing with integral 12V DC, 3A power supply and intelligent fuse panel. It provides I/O support for PC-based access control or membership software that needs to manage access points. Up to 32 access points that use ID devices such as card readers and keypads can be supported via a single USB port or a TCP/IP network connection.

Product features & benefits

Each reader control module is provided in an attractive wall mount cabinet and can manage up to two ID devices and operate their associated barriers or turnstiles via robust output relays.

A member presents a card, fob, QR code or wallet pass at a reader. The DeltaQuest module sends the reader's identity and the credential string, for example R1 plus the ID, to the integration layer that connects it to your software, and holds no member data itself. Your software checks the member and answers allow or deny. On allow, DeltaQuest fires the relay for that reader and the turnstile, door or barrier opens. Your platform keeps the entry log.

The DeltaQuest is ideal for use in the leisure industry when combined with third-party membership software.

The DeltaQuest is compatible with all Nortech’s reader technologies and can support many third-party readers and keypads.

How DeltaQuest integrates with your software

DeltaQuest reads the credential and fires the relay. Every allow or deny comes from your platform. There is no Nortech cloud in the loop and no second member database to keep in sync: your software stays the system of record and keeps the entry log. The enclosed DQ-S2-PH runs the same protocol as the PCB, with its own power supply and fused outputs for the readers.

  1. Step 1 of a DeltaQuest integration: a member in the entry lane holds a phone up to the QR reader on the speedgate pedestal, with the DeltaQuest controller and the operator's PC running your software on the island behind the gate 1

    A member presents a credential

A card, fob, QR code, barcode, NFC credential or wallet pass at a reader on the turnstile, door or barrier. Any reader with a standard output works.

  2. Step 2: the DeltaQuest controller sends the reader identity and the credential string along the island to the PC running the integration layer, shown as a cyan signal, while the member waits at the closed gate 2

DeltaQuest sends the reader and the credential to the integration layer

The module sends the reader identity and the credential string, for example R1 plus the ID, over TCP/IP or USB serial to the integration layer on site: a module in your own software or the Nortech DeltaQuest Hub. It holds no member data.

  3. Step 3: your software checks the member against a checklist of membership active, payments up to date and allowed at this gate, while the member waits at the closed gate 3

    Your platform makes the decision

The integration layer passes the request to your API or CRM, which checks membership, payment status and what that member may enter at that location. Entitlement rules and logging stay in your platform.

  4. Step 4: your software answers allow, shown as a red signal back to the DeltaQuest controller and on to the gate, the glass wings open and the member walks through; the entry is logged on the operator's PC 4

You answer allow, and the gate opens

The integration layer sends your answer back and DeltaQuest fires the relay for that reader, so the turnstile, door or barrier opens. Your platform keeps the entry log.

Complete Turnkey Access Control for Membership Venues

The DQ-S2-PH provides a ready-to-install solution for leisure operators and system integrators who require rapid deployment without sourcing separate power supplies or enclosures.

The wall-mounted housing with integrated 12V DC 3A power supply and intelligent fuse panel makes it ideal for fitness centres managing turnstile entry points, swimming pools controlling changing room access, and social clubs overseeing multiple bar or function room entrances.

Venues running Gladstone, Legend, or similar membership platforms can connect the DeltaQuest directly to their existing software via USB or TCP/IP, enabling real-time member validation at each access point. The 312mm × 312mm enclosure fits standard UK electrical mounting points and provides clean cable termination for professional installations.

For multi-site leisure operators or local authority sports facilities, the ability to daisy-chain up to 16 DeltaQuest modules (32 access points) from a single PC connection simplifies central management while keeping each venue's access points responsive even during peak usage periods.

Frequently asked questions

What is included in the DQ-S2-PH package?

The DQ-S2-PH includes the DeltaQuest 2-reader interface PCB, a 312mm × 312mm plastic wall-mount enclosure, an integrated 12V DC 3A power supply unit, and an intelligent fuse panel for protected power distribution to readers.

What mains voltage does the enclosure version accept?

The integrated power supply accepts 90 to 264VAC at 47 to 63Hz, drawing a maximum of 1.6A at 115VAC or 1A at 230VAC. This makes it suitable for installations in the UK, Europe, and international markets.

How does the intelligent fuse panel work?

The fuse panel distributes 12V DC power to connected access devices such as card readers, with individual fused outputs and power supply monitoring. This protects readers from overcurrent and enables diagnostic visibility of power issues.

Can I upgrade from the PCB version to the enclosure version?

Yes, the DQ-S2-PX PCB can be installed inside the DQ-S2-PH enclosure or sourced separately. Many integrators purchase PCB-only units for custom installations and enclosure versions for standard wall-mount deployments.

What is the maximum cable length between DeltaQuest units?

RS485 communication between master and slave DeltaQuest modules supports cable runs up to 1200m using Belden 9729 or equivalent twisted-pair cabling. Reader cables can extend 25m for RS232 or 100m for Wiegand/C&D formats.

Do we host anything with Nortech?

No. Nortech runs no cloud. DeltaQuest sits at the venue and talks to your software over TCP/IP or USB serial, and your platform stays the system of record. There is no second member database to keep in sync.

What happens if the connection to our software drops?

DeltaQuest has an offline mode. How each access point behaves while the link to your software is down is agreed per site at setup.

Can members use QR codes from our app?

Yes. Your CRM or app generates dynamic QR codes and controls their expiry, whether that is 10, 30 or 60 seconds or another period. DeltaQuest doesn't manage the expiry: it reads the code and passes the string to the integration layer like any other credential, and your platform matches it to the member who generated it. DeltaQuest does not report the credential type, so if you issue cards as well, prefix the QR payload so your platform can tell them apart. Existing static barcodes keep working.

Which readers and turnstiles can we use?

Any reader with a standard output (Wiegand, Clock & Data, RS232 or RS485), including QR and wallet-pass readers, and any turnstile, door or barrier driven by a relay. Each DeltaQuest module runs two readers and two relays, and up to 32 access points sit on one host connection.
