The school run, sixth-form drivers, parents' evenings, contractors, deliveries, weekend lettings: hundreds of vehicles, most with a good reason to be there, none of them wanting to queue.
Access control pulls against safeguarding. Prop the gate open and anyone can drive in among pupils and pedestrians; lock it down and staff spend the day on gate duty, buzzing in every parent and delivery van.
Most campuses already run an access control system, visitor management and safeguarding processes, so vehicle access has to plug into what is there, not replace it.

Case study
Seaford College is an independent school in West Sussex for pupils aged 5 to 18. Its two entrances already had number plate cameras linked to the access control system and the gates, but the cameras were failing to capture plates consistently, which held up authorised staff and parents.
Safeguard Systems replaced them with ANPR Lumo, fitted into the existing access control and gate automation so the school kept everything else it had.

Read the full case study ›Neither reader needs its own software. Each one hands the plate or tag number to an access control system as a standard reader, so it can be added to the system a school already runs, Paxton Net2 for one, or to Norpass3, our licence-free access control software.
The access control system then treats a number plate like any other credential, with the same access levels and time periods it applies to cards. ANPR Lumo also has an Ethernet connection and a REST interface, so plate reads can be sent to visitor management or other software.

Each stored caravan or motorhome carries a tamperproof UHF windscreen tag matched to the owner's access card. uPASS Go readers log every entry and exit, and a vehicle moving through the entrance without its owner presenting a valid card raises an immediate alarm.
In most cases, yes. ANPR Lumo and uPASS Go both have a Wiegand output, so the access control system sees each one as a card reader, whether that is Paxton Net2, another system or our own Norpass3, which is licence-free if the site has no system.
